IFLA Committee Offers Fellowships For Its International Conferences

The U.S. International
Federation of Library Associations and Institutions 2001 National
Organizing Committee is accepting applications for its new program
that helps librarians attend IFLA’s annual conferences.
The Fellowships
for the Americas Program provides grants for librarians from South
America, Central America, North America and the Caribbean to attend
the IFLA General Conference and Council in Berlin, Germany, in 2003
and Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2004. The grants cover the recipients’
conference registration fees, air travel, shared accommodations
and per diems, as well as a small orientation and reception for
the participants.
Fifteen fellowships
will be offered for the IFLA 2003 conference in Berlin. The number
of fellowships available for the Buenos Aires conference will be
determined in 2003.
To be eligible
for the fellowships, librarians must be residents of the Americas
and born after 1962, have a minimum of five years’ working
experience in library or information settings, and not be regular
IFLA conference delegates.
The application
deadline for fellowships to attend the IFLA conference in Berlin
is Jan. 15, 2003. Applications in English and Spanish are available
