Updated Price Index Posted on AALLNET

For Immediate Release
December 19, 2002

For the first time in five years, the Price Index for Legal Publications has been updated and posted on the Members-Only section of AALL's Web site, AALLNET, at http://www.aallnet.org.

The Price Index for Legal Publications, 2d. covers pricing data for 915 titles from 1998-2001. The table-based report details the mean cost of titles and percentage increases over previous years for serial publications, legal periodicals, loose-leaf services, commercially published court reporters, and supplemented treatises.

The purpose of a price index is to measure the change in average prices for a broad range of titles on a periodic basis. It can be helpful in making informed budget requests and price analysis.

The Price Index for Legal Publications Advisory Committee, including Price Index Editor Anne Poulter, compiled the data for the current report. The first edition of the Price Index was published in 1996 under the editorship of Bettie Scott and later Margie Axtmann.
