Here are 2 print resources:

--CIS US Congressional Committee Hearings Index, coverage -- 23rd Congress
(1833) to 91st Congress (1969).

--CIS US congressional committee hearings index, coverage for the House is
1833-1968, and for the Senate is 1823-1976.

Electronic resources:

--The CD "Congressional Masterfile", which ceased publication in 1998.
Here's a description, "A set of databases containing bibliographic records
for five major bodies of congressional publications (congressional reports,
published and unpublished hearings, documents, committee prints, and Senate
executive reports and documents) issued from 1789-1969. "

--Congressional Universe now has a database containing "Congressional
Indexes, 1789-1969" and "Indexes to Unpublished Hearings"

In response to the frustration question raised by Connie, I wondered if 
others could provide "sources" for hearings involving pre 70's  USA 
legislation.  I know of finding aids but are there any hints on "reasonably 
accessible" (price, esp).  resources to find these documents.  I'd even be 
happy to drop the price modifier and learn.
