I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a response to Hope's inquiry. Or
maybe people have been replying directly to her.
We are part of the SUNY (State University of New York) system. The
decision to move to Ex Libris' ALEPH system was made at the SUNY-wide
level, so staff at my Law Library were not directly involved. I believe
one or two people earlier in the week said their decision was also made
for consortial reasons.
We are moving from the NOTIS system and we have also had pressure from our
local technical computing people to move off of the mainframe. So
participating in the SUNY-wide system venture made sense for us for a few
reasons.
At present we are evaluating test data and we hope to switch to production
in June 2002. This is for a University-wide system.
