The University of Wyoming College of Law has a Defender Aid clinic run by students to serve our prison population. They make personal visits for consultations and assistance, and interact with prisoners by mailed correspondence and telephone also. Here in the law school library, we treat prisoner requests as we treat any other requests for materials, except that we do require prepayment. However, the clinic has told us that they will copy and deliver information for free, so usually when I receive a request, I forward it to the clinic. Most of the time they are already familiar with the case and the prisoner who initiated the correspondence. The clinic director delivers the library's discarded advanced sheets to the prison when they visit in person. We have not had any requests for further materials to forward to prison libraries.
