DESCRIPTION
The PLL/SIS Corporate Law Librarians' Group is made up of librarians
who function in a corporate environment, rather than a law firm
environment. The group meets once a year at the AALL Annual Meeting and
conducts the rest of its business by letter, telephone and e-mail.
HISTORY
The PLL/SIS Corporate Law Librarians' Group began informally about
1986 when Peggy Butler of New York Life Insurance Company gathered
colleagues together during the annual meeting to discuss common problems
and concerns. These original meetings were held on an ad hoc basis and
were not announced in the programs. About 1990, they started having more
"official" meetings, which were announced in the program and usually
coincided with those of PLL's other groups. The topics for discussion
usually come from ideas generated by members prior to the meeting and
from concerns which come up during the roundtble.
IMPORTANT PROJECTS
DIRECTORY: The group has a directory of members. Currently, the
directory is based only on members who have attended the meetings and
submitted their names and addresses during annual meetings, or people
who have contacted the chair for inclusion. Feedback from the corporate
group indicates that the directory is used by the membership and that
annual revisions continue to be an important priority for the group.
