The Academic Law Libraries SIS will be holding its luncheon in Anaheim on Sunday, July 12. In a break from tradition, the gathering is open to all members of the SIS - there will be no separate function for directors or middle managers. Our goal is to bring all members of the SIS together during this time so that we can get to know each other and share ideas based on our varied experiences within the realm of academic law libraries.
Reservations must be made when registering for the convention - a line for the event is included in the registration form. The cost for the luncheon is $16.00. LEXIS/NEXIS has generously provided funding for this event so that the cost to members can be kept down.
The Academic Law Libraries SIS was faced with a unique challenge this year - planning library tours and a reception despite the fact that Disneyland has no law library! With a little help from our friends in L.A. and support from a publisher, the problem has been solved.
The SIS will be holding its tours and reception on Saturday, July 11. Buses will leave Anaheim between 5:00 and 5:30 and head first to the law library at Southwestern University School of Law. After a tour of that facility, we will head to the law library at UCLA for tours and a party, featuring Mexican food from a very popular local restaurant. Buses will leave UCLA to return to Anaheim between 9:15 and 9:45.
The Bureau of National Affairs has offered to provide funding to assist the SIS in holding this event. Therefore, please ignore the information in the Preliminary Program which indicates that a $20 registration fee is required for this tour. Invitations will be mailed to SIS members during May, asking that they RSVP for an accurate head count. Anyone who has already paid for the tour will be reimbursed by AALL following the convention.
