Counting Prayer Beads of Tulsi Wood:
Statistics Roundtable Scheduled for July 18
A roundtable on statistics is scheduled in Philadelphia for Tuesday, July 18, 5:15-6:15
p.m. Please consider this an invitation to all academics. This year's working group,
composed of Pauline Aranas, Mark Folmsbee, Larry Meyer, and Mila Rush, hope that you can,
and will, come. Agenda items at this point:
- Any further follow-up on the previous day's discussion of the revised ABA statistics.
- What measures will academic law libraries need other than those asked for by the bodies
(ABA, ARL, IPEDS, etc.) we are obligated to report statistical figures to? Can we compile
these at this roundtable, or do we need an after-the-Annual Meeting survey? Please do some
homework with your respective libraries, so that we can expedite the compilation. If you
can not come to the meeting, please give your thoughts, written (if possible) or verbally,
to any of the working group members.
- Review a prototype of an interactive statistical form.
- Review the recommendations of this year's working group for the future of statistics in
ALL-SIS, and get a feel of what the field things. The latter can help guide the SIS's
decision-making.
