Our noted speaker will be John Furlong. A solicitor by profession, Mr. Furlong is Director of Legal Resources and Education at Matheson Ormsby Prentice, Solicitors (MOP). MOP is one of Ireland’s largest corporate law firms.The firm is based in Dublin, Ireland. Mr. Furlong is a member of the Technology Committee of the Law Society of Ireland. He has written widely on legal and technology topics. In 2000, Mr. Furlong became the first Irish person to chair the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians.
 
Mr. Furlong will discuss Irish legal reference materials in a European context. He will provide an overview of the legal system in Ireland and will address some of  the challenges faced by legal information professionals who need to locate relevant domestic and European law. This presentation will also cover recent major developments in electronic delivery of cases, legislation and other law documents.

At the presentation, there will be a prize drawing for a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream and a sampler of Mr. Furlong’s favorite Irish beer! ATTEND AND BRING YOUR FRIENDS!
