Tuesday, July 17, 2001. Attendees: Stephanie Burke, Anne Burnett, Jean Davis, Victoria Szymczak, Tracy Thompson, Katherine Topulos
The Committee
welcomed and congratulated new FCIL-SIS Newsletter editor Stephanie Burke.
At an earlier meeting, the Electronic Issues Interest Group discussed whether
the Section needs a "bibliography of bibliographies" that would
serve as a list of best guides to foreign & international research. If
so, the bibliography could be posted on the Section's Web site.
We can also create annotated links to members' guides from the Section's "Teaching Resources" page at http://brkl.brooklaw.edu/screens/fcilsis.html (maintained by Victoria Szymczak).
We discussed adding FCIL-SIS collection development links to the Section's Web site. At the Electronic Issues IG meeting, Lyonette Louis-Jacques, along with Marylin Raisch and Dan Wade, offered to begin an "Identification of Useful Collection Development Tools" project.
Anne Burnett reported that the University of Georgia School of Law has changed its domain name, which means that the Section's Web site has also changed domain names. The old site http://www.lawsch.uga.edu/fcil/fcil.html will automatically re-direct to the new site http://www.law.uga.edu/fcil/fcil.html) through July, 2002. Notification of the change will take place through the newsletter, listserv, and on the Web site itself. Any remaining Section brochures will be stamped with the new URL.
The new Section brochures have received many compliments. Jean Davis is commended for her hard work and creativity, and we also thank Maya Norris at AALL HQ for facilitating the new design and printing.
The Web site
needs to be re-designed and re-organized. As a first step, Anne Burnett will
remove links to outdated pages, although copies of those pages will remain
on the server (example: the Section's statement of July 17, 1998 re: "FCIL-SIS
Programming and Scheduling at the Annual Conference: Concerns for 1999 and
Beyond").
Suggestions re: Web site organization and content are welcome (aburnett@arches.uga.edu).
