Special Message from the Chair:

September 11, 2001

Tracy Thompson, Chair

Forever, for each of us, just the mention of that date will evoke memories of a moment that even still, in the harsh reality of history, seems unimaginable. It is even harder to imagine moving forward with our business without acknowledging the terror unleashed upon Manhattan and upon our nation on that Tuesday morning. Much has been lost: mothers and fathers, futures, sons and daughters, innocence, friends and colleagues, an abiding sense of security as the backdrop for our daily lives. Can we expect to ‘come to an understanding' of these terrorist attacks, or ‘make sense' of them? Those seem like unrealistic goals. But many of us may hope to come to terms with these events through research and study. We hope that we can make some small contribution to those efforts for you and your patrons by providing links to a handful of the myriad resources on terrorism now becoming available. Perhaps true peace can only be achieved through knowledge.
