Help with the Tutorial

Navigating the Tutorial

The Government Documents tutorial is divided into three main modules. Before beginning, you should read the Overview, which describes the content and subject matter of the tutorial.

To navigate through the tutorial, there are two separate quick jump menus. On the left side of each page is a menu that links to each major section of the tutorial, as well as sections within each module. Below are graphics of the three Module menus, with their respective section links:

Besides the instructional modules, the left-side menu has a link to Resources, containing hyperlinks to useful web sites for documents librarians and technicians. There is also a link to the test section of the tutorial, so you can see how well you know the technical side of Govdocs.

There is also a navigation bar on the bottom of each page, in case your browser screen is set lower than the side menu. This menu links to the three modules, test section, resources page, and the home page. Unlike the left-side menu, it does not provide links to individual module sections. Below is a graphic of the bottom menu:

Viewing Tips and Quiz Answers

Throughout the tutorial you'll find several multiple choice quizzes. There are also questions posed at the bottom of several pages. Assuming you have a fairly modern browser (at least version 4 of Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer), you should see suggested answers or feedback after you click on one of the possible answers.

Likewise, if you see either a or button, simply point your cursor anywhere on the button to see text or a detailed graphic illustrating the main text. For an example of how the buttons work, point your cursor over the Show Me button now.
