Non-Active Materials

Superseded Materials:

  • Libraries may discard documents on the Superseded List upon receipt of new editions or revisions
  • Some libraries choose to retain superseded editions for historical research
Secondary copies

  • Only the first copy of a publication is the depository copy
  • Secondary copies do not have to be retained for five years
  • Offer secondary copies via discard lists or on GovDoc-L
Inactive and Discontinued Items
 
  • Item numbers for materials that have ceased publication or are no longer listed on the FDLP webpage, at:
  • ftp://fedbbs.access.gpo.gov/gpo_bbs/class/inactlst.txt

  • Additions are listed in Appendix 3 of the List of Classes, in Administrative Notes Technical Supplement, and on shipping lists
