Introduction

Misfiled publications are the equivalent of lost publications. A logical and consistent order that is easily understood by staff and patrons is essential to the efficient work of a documents department.
The logic behind the SuDocs classification system is the grouping of subordinate units with the parent organization so that each full notation reveals the responsible issuing agency (the "provenance") for the type of publication being classified.
