	The following list shows how various elements are added to a Cutter number (Ec 47 is the Cutter for "economic") to differentiate individual publications with editions or revisions.
	Note: the numbers are in proper filing order.

For further thought:

Why do you think that Cutter numbers for government publications are based on title keyword instead of author name, as they are for Library of Congress call numbers?

Because the authors of US government publications are usually federal agencies. Using the Cutter for one of only a small number of agency names would not identify the publication in a unique way.
