  • The mission of our special interest section, Legal Information Services to the Public, is to improve access to legal information and to promote legal information services to the public. Two projects that we regularly engage in are the Clearinghouse Bibliography and the reference brochure, "How to Research a Legal Problem: A Guide for Non-Lawyers." The SIS also publishes the Public Library Toolkit.

In addition to these projects, LISP promotes and encourages its members to provide research assistance to pro bono groups, either through local AALL chapters or individually by its members. LISP also is charged with representing its members' interests and concerns within AALL.

LISP-SIS Program - Online Interactive Court Forms for Self-Represented Litigants: The Library's Role

    Sunday 1:30pm - 2:45pm . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Location: TBA

Online interactive forms simplify the process of completing court forms and increase access to justice for self-represented litigants. Many states are working with online forms through national document assembly projects such as National Public Automated Documents Online (NPADO). Speaker Kate Bladow is the NPADO project coordinator at ProBonoNet. Co-speaker Judy Meadows, Montana State law librarian, will describe law librarian support for these efforts and the critical role they play in connecting users with these resources.
