Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is responsible for recruiting a slate of candidates to run for office each year. The Committee consists of three members appointed by the OBS-SIS Chair. It begins its work in the fall preceding the election after consulting with the Chair about volunteers to run for office who may have responded to the annual membership survey.

Every year the SIS elects a Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and one Member-at-Large. In addition, a Secretary/Treasurer is elected in odd-numbered years. According to the Bylaws, there must be at least two candidates for each office.

Anyone interested in running for office should contact the OBS-SIS Chair or the chair of the Nominating Committee for further information.
