Volunteers Needed at TS Display Table

Every year at the annual meeting, the Special Interest Sections, Chapters, etc., of AALL host tables in the activities section of the exhibit hall. The Technical Services Special Interest Section will have a display table and we need volunteers to staff the table for a few hours in order to answer questions that people visiting the table may have about the Technical Services Special Interest Section.

Volunteers are needed between the hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m on Sunday, July 21; between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday, July 22; and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23. A commitment of one or two hours will be greatly appreciated. It is also a fun way to interact with other AALL members.

To volunteer, contact Kate Pecarovich (UCLA Law Library) at pecarovi@law.ucla.edu.

Session on AACR2 serials revisions

A session about the revisions for continuing resources and integrating resources expected in the 2002 revision of AACR2 will take place during the time slot of the Cataloging and Classification Roundtable, Tuesday, July 23, 2002, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Discussed will be changes to how serials, integrating web sites and integrating loose-leafs are cataloged and tagged. The AACR2 revision should be published this summer, with implementation to begin in the fall. Richard Amelung, who has taught cataloging, will speak about the cataloging aspects, and Susan Goldner, AALL's representative to MARBI will speak about the changes to MARC tags to accommodate the revisions.

Nancy Poehlmann, Chair of the Cataloging and Classification Committee has graciously made this time available. Since this isn't a formal AALL program, it will be listed in the published program only as the Roundtable.

Meeting of Law Library Aleph Users (ExLibris)

During the 95th Annual AALL Meeting and Conference there will be a first-ever gathering of Law Library Aleph users (ExLibris) on Wednesday, July 24, 2002, from 12:30-2:00 p.m. in Room 330(A) of the Orlando Convention Center. Mila Rush, University of Minnesota, will convene the group and moderate the discussion. It is anticipated that the meeting will begin with a round-robin report of system use levels and/or implementation status. The group may then break into smaller functional discussions. Please contact either Mila (m-rush@umn.edu or 612-625-0793) or Caitlin Robinson (caitlin-robinson@uiowa.edu or 319-335-9049) to identify any specific topics that you would like added to the agenda.

Please note that the meeting will not be listed in the final program, but it will appear in the newsletter that you receive in your registration packet.
