2007-2008 Vice-Chair/Chair Elect Annual Report
The membership volunteer survey was launched on February 28, 2008 using the AALL subscription to Zoomerang. The response rate fell dramatically this year to a mere 9.67% from last year's impressive 33%. Despite this, the survey identified several excellent volunteers and this information was forwarded to the standing and administrative committee chairs for their use in making appointments and forming their committees.
In July 2007, the Executive Board voted to relieve the Vice-Chair/Chair Elect of the chairmanship of the Education Committee and its inherent burdens. Under the new procedure, the Vice-Chair/Chair Elect appoints a chair and serves on the Education Committee ex officio. This year, Karen Douglas from Duke University, a former TS-SIS chair and AALL AMPC member, accepted the role as chair and planning for the 2009 annual meeting in Washington, D.C. began in early May. Program and workshop proposals will employ the 2009 meeting theme, Innovate!
The Executive Board approved the following appointments for the coming term:
- Ajaye Bloomstone, Louisiana State University - Acquisitions Committee chair;
- Karen Douglas, Duke University - Education Committee chair;
- Marilyn Estes, American University - Preservation Committee chair;
- Gwen Gregory, John Marshall Law School - TSLL Advisory Board member;
- Barbara Henigman, University of Illinois - TS/OBS Joint Research Grant Committee member;
- June Liptay, St. Thomas University - Membership Committee chair; and
- Linda Sobey, Florida A&M University - Awards Committee chair.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Tesar
Vice-Chair/Chair Elect
