Gullon Statement:

TS-SIS has been a vital and an integral influence in my professional law library career. As a technical services librarian, I am still acquiring skills and developing talents through my active participation in this Section. My institution has greatly benefited from the TS members collective wisdom and from the network of colleagues that I have developed throughout the years. I graciously accept the nomination to serve as TS-SIS vice-chair/chair-elect. I would welcome the opportunity to build on the strong foundation already laid, to implement directives from the TS Strategic Plan, to encourage new proposals and ideas, and to face new challenges.

Candidate for Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect:
Linda Tesar

Tesar Statement:

Our roles as technical services librarians continue to evolve and grow in response to this ever-changing and increasingly complex electronic world. Keeping ahead of the curve would not be easy without TS-SIS providing us with a steady font of information and collegial support. Many times the TS-SIS-sponsored programs at the annual meeting have tempered my sense of panic and explained the seemingly inexplicable. Similarly, when the thought of venturing out as a speaker, officer, or committee member seemed daunting to me, TS-SIS gave me the opportunity to experiment, stretch myself, and gain much-needed experience. And most of my favorite professional relationships have resulted from my membership and participation with this group of witty, intelligent, dedicated, eccentric individuals. I value our section for the education, opportunities and friendships it has provided me.
TS-SIS plays a vital role in our professional careers and I would be honored to serve as the next Vice-Chair/Chair Elect.

Brigandi Statement:

I have served the TS-SIS in many important ways through work on the Acquisitions Committee, Serials Committee & Nominations. I have also written eight program proposals, and have coordinated six programs and a workshop in the past six years. TS-SIS has served me in many ways by providing a network of experienced people to gain knowledge from, by providing excellent learning opportunities, and by providing leadership in an ever changing environment. With my experience in private law firms, public law libraries, academic libraries and as an independent consultant, I offer the membership a well rounded point of view. I am honored to be considered for the position of Member-At Large, and look forward to the opportunity to contribute my experience to this organization.

Tang Statement:

TS SIS has been an active and productive SIS within the AALL and its committees have provided leadership in many areas of law librarianship. In this constant changing work and research environment, we need to adapt to the changing needs and to prepare for new ways to do our jobs. Lorna hopes that she will have an opportunity to participate in the continuing support and leadership for technical services law librarians.

Tang Bio:

Lorna Tang assumed her present position, Associate Law Librarian for Technical Services, at the University of Chicago D'Angelo Law Library, in 1995 after serving as a cataloger for three years, Cataloging Supervisor for four years, and Head of Technical Services for eleven years.

Previously Lorna worked as a cataloger at the University of California (Davis) Law School Library and as a Children's Librarian at Syracuse (N.Y.) Public Library. Lorna is a member of AALL, CALL, and ALA, and she has been active in all three organizations.

Within AALL Lorna served on CRIV and the Special Committee on Licensing Principles for Electronic Resources. She was the moderator for two conference programs on licensing and just finished her term as the Chair of TS SIS Acquisitions Committee. In Chicago, Lorna served as Chair of CALL Relations with Information Vendors Committee for several years. Now Lorna is also a member of the ALA A/S Education Committee.

Lorna Tang received her B.A. degree from the National Taiwan University and M.L.S. from the University of California, Berkeley.
