2007-2008 Annual Report
Committee membership: Alan Keely, chair, Linda Tesar, Janice Anderson, Ajaye Bloomstone, Elizabeth Bradsher, Carmen Brigandi, Edward Hart, Patricia Sayre McCoy, Carol Avery Nicholson, Karen Nuckolls, Jean Pajerek, Karen Wahl, Hollie White.
This was the first year where the term of the Education Committee was extended to eighteen months, i.e. the period from January 2007 up to and including the 2008 annual meeting to be held in July 2008. This change allowed the same committee to handle all of the details from the program planning and programs submission phase, to the marketing and logistics for all of the sponsored programs.
The Committee was somewhat late getting started but was able to have many proposals well developed by the time of the 2007 annual meeting in New Orleans. After that meeting, much of the fine-tuning was done to ready the various proposals for submission. Several proposals were tabled for the 2009 meeting in Washington, D.C. as there was insufficient time to finalize them.
The Committee submitted three workshop proposals to the AMPC, of which all three, were accepted. The Committee also submitted five program proposals to the AMPC, of which two were accepted. The remaining three program proposals were accepted for TS-SIS sponsorship. The Committee was also approached by the OBS-SIS for co-sponsorship of four program proposals. All of those programs are being presented at the 2008 annual meeting. Program listings can be found on the TS-SIS website.
In December, the Committee developed a marketing plan for the programs and workshops to be held during the annual meeting. That plan has been executed.
