Administrative Committees: Bylaws Committee
The Bylaws Committee is appointed on an as-needed basis by the TS-SIS chair to bring the TS-SIS bylaws into conformity with AALL policies or to make other proposals to amend the bylaws as desired by the TS-SIS Executive Board. The Past Chair shall serve as chair of the Bylaws Committee.
The chair:
- Follows the provisions of Article X, Bylaws regarding the amendments to said Bylaws (see Appendix I).
- Communicates with the TS-SIS Vice Chair/Chair-elect or the Secretary/Treasurer, as to the viability of including a notification of proposed amendments with the distribution of TS-SIS annual surveys or with the election ballots, respectively. Alternatively, such notice may be achieved by posting to the TS-SIS online discussion list or publication in TSLL at least thirty (30) days before the vote.
- Sends draft and final versions of amendments to the chair of the AALL Bylaws Committee, for verification that no provisions are in conflict with AALL bylaws or policies.
- After AALL Bylaws Committee approval, sends the final version of the amendment proposal to Secretary/Treasurer for balloting and tabulation of results.
- If the amendments are approved by the membership, ensures that they are incorporated into the official copy of the Bylaws on the TS-SIS website.
- Submits a written report to the Chair according to the deadline set by the Chair each year.
- Presents a brief verbal summary of this report at the TS-SIS business meeting.
