Inspiration For Becoming A Law Librarian
In my masters program at Pitt for library science/information science one of my internships included a law library which I found very interesting (I intended to pursue information science not library science). I changed my direction to law libraries and never looked back.
My first mentor was Alan Holoch, whom I met at the first Council of Chapter Presidents in 1980. He helped guide my early career and encouraged me to stay in this field.
Current Position Challenges
The true challenge for me is making the decision of what titles to keep in paper vs. electronic format only. It can be a true guessing game with faculty who don’t know how to turn on their computers and students who don’t want to open a library book. (And librarians who are brutally frank like me).
Prior Positions/Employment
- University of Pittsburgh Barco Law Library Pittsburgh, Pa , 1977-1985
- Buchanan Ingersoll, P.C., Pittsburgh, Pa 1986-1989

'Crazy' Non-Professional Activity
Bike Week in Daytona (more fun than crazy) I got my tattoo there!

Friday Night Football in Western Pennsylvania
Earliest Childhood Memory
One early memory I have is going to little league practice with my dad when he was coaching. I remember how much fun our neighborhood was and that it was one big party every summer night. Money was tight for everyone in the neighborhood but we always had a good time and enjoyed what we had.
Where In Five Years?
Some people would say that I will be in a rocking chair being fed pudding. But seriously, I will be right where I am guiding my staff and maybe writing or teaching.
