1. Karen Douglas, Acquisitions Committee Chairperson, called the meeting to order. Attendees identified themselves, their libraries, and their titles. Everyone enjoyed noting the great number of titles with slashes in the group, e.g. Head of Technical Services/Acquisitions Librarian. The minutes from the 2000 meeting were approved.
2. "New Perspectives on Law Library Acquisitions and Collection Development Workshop" - Cynthia Aninao reported that the AALL Professional Development Committee accepted the proposal drafted by her, Lisa Arm, Carmen Brigandi, Mary Moore, Sandy Sadow, and Dick Vaughan. It will be held on Friday, November 2, and Saturday, November 3 at American University College of Law in Washington, D.C. The speakers are Chris Graesser, JoAnn Hounshell, Janis Johnston, Phyllis Marion, and Jim Mumm. Although a West Coast location is tentatively planned for next year, the possibility of a Midwest location was requested. Lorna Tang announced that grants for the workshop are available and the application deadline is August 2.
Cynthia summarized the topics that will be covered and requested feedback or other ideas from the group. Rob Richards noted that the USGPO may gradually be cut, forcing us to acquire and pay for more government information. On the subject of archiving electronic resources, Mary McKee noted that more items are being printed from the Web and some libraries are adding these to the print collection. Lorna Tang noted that Cornell is downloading entire Web sites.
3. Program Ideas for 2002 Annual Meeting - Two ideas will be developed and submitted.
