TYPE: Special Committee
PURPOSE: To identify existing and planned digital library initiatives, and to recommend ways in which AALL and law libraries can more effectively and sustainably participate in them.
CHARGE: The Special Committee will:
- Identify large-scale cooperative digital libraries and related organizations, such as the National Digital Stewardship Alliance, Hathi Trust, the Digital Public Library of America, and describe the current status of law libraries involvement in such projects.
- Analyze the potential benefits of increased participation by law libraries in these initiatives.
- Recommend possible strategies and procedures for AALL to establish and maintain stakeholder communications with such groups.
The Special Committee will write topical articles for a Members' Briefing in the July 2014 issue of AALL Spectrum and make final recommendations to the Executive Board at its July 2014 meeting.
SIZE: Chair, plus six members. In addition, the Chair of the Digital Access to Legal Information Committee, the Director of Government Relations, and the Vendor Liaison will serve in ex officio roles.
RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER COMMITTEES/STRUCTURES: The Special Committee may solicit input and feedback from AALL members and entities.
