April 05, 2001

Mark your calendars. The survey questionnaires for the 2001 Biennial Salary Survey will be mailed the week of April 20 to all AALL library directors and heads of libraries. All who receive the questionnaires are strongly urged to participate. All law librarians are asked to encourage their library directors to complete the survey. Completed questionnaires are due on May 18.

The AALL 2001 Biennial Salary Survey is the only source for up-to-date information about salaries for law librarians and other law library employees who work in 1) academic libraries, 2) private firms and corporate libraries, and 3) state, court and county law libraries. The survey is customized to provide information unique to the needs of these three types of institutional libraries, including position, region, gender, education, years in current position, years of experience and membership in AALL.

AALL will publish the survey in collaboration with Association Research, Inc., an independent research firm in Rockville, Md., that works exclusively with nonprofit organizations.

The 2001 Biennial Salary Survey will be available for purchase and shipment in July; $95 for AALL members and $150 for non-members. The survey will also be available online at ALLNET for members to browse free of charge. The association is accepting advance orders by e-mail at, by fax at 312/431-1097 or by calling the AALL headquarters at 312/939-4764, extension 12.
