Are negotiating and interpreting licensing agreements for your library driving you mad? Keep your sanity--register for the licensing tutorial "Signing on the Dotted Line: Licensing Essentials for Library Professionals," co-sponsored by AALL and the American Library Association.
Beginning the week of Feb. 25 and running through early April, AALL and ALA will host an e-mail tutorial on licensing that will help librarians negotiate and interpret licensing agreements with confidence. The tutorial will cover licensing basics in 25-30 brief but informative messages written by Lesley Ellen Harris (http://www.copyrightlaws.com/index2.html), a recognized expert in copyright law and the author of Licensing Digital Content: A Practical Guide for Librarians. Topics will include licensing lingo tips, how to develop a licensing policy, how to be a better negotiator and MORE. This course is a MUST for any law librarian involved in licensing agreements.
Because AALL is co-sponsoring the licensing tutorial, it is FREE to AALL members.
Signing up is easy. Simply go to http://aallnet.org/mailman/listinfo/licensing-tutorial. After subscribing, you will receive an automated message. Follow the instructions to confirm your participation. You will receive your first e-mail tutorial message on licensing during the week of Feb. 25. You can read your messages when they arrive, save them for later, or print them out, but we recommend reading the messages in the order that they are received. You will not be able to post messages to the tutorial list.
The licensing tutorial is another professional development activity brought to you by AALL's Professional Development Committee.
