TYPE
Special Committee
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Awards Review Special Committee is to evaluate the criteria and guidelines for all AALL awards with the goal of fostering diversity, equity, and inclusivity (see AALL’s DEI policy) in the award selection and review process.
CHARGE
The committee shall review:
- The awards criteria under the responsibility of AALL Awards Juries to
- Evaluate and recommend updated language of award criteria and determine if there are opportunities for standardized language
- Evaluate awards to determine similarities and recommend whether eliminating, combining or revising names of awards is appropriate.
- Evaluate and recommend whether non AALL members are eligible for AALL awards keeping in mind the AALL 2022-2025 strategic plan’s goal of Championing Excellence.
- Evaluate and recommend whether each award must be given annually.
- Evaluate and recommend whether more than one award can be given each year and whether caps on the number of annual awardees is appropriate.
- Evaluate and recommend updated language of awards criteria to ensure nominations from law librarians and legal information professionals in all library types.
- The Andrews, Gallagher, and Hall of Fame Awards criteria to
- Evaluate and recommend whether non AALL members are eligible for AALL awards keeping in mind the AALL 2022-2025 strategic plan’s goal of Championing Excellence evaluate and recommend whether each award must be given annually.
