Library Tours

Showcasing Local Institutions

Library tours will be offered in person during the 2022 AALL Annual Meeting in Denver to showcase a variety of Colorado libraries. The Colorado Supreme Court Library and Judicial Center is within 15-minute walking distance of the Colorado Convention Center; taxis and rideshares are also easily accessible in the downtown area. The University of Colorado tour will be accessible via bus transportation provided by the Conference. The times listed for the tour do not include travel time to and from the host library.


Advance registration is required for all tours by June 17 and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Due to limited availability please sign up for only one tour. Tours are subject to cancellation if there is insufficient registration or if public health restrictions are in place at the time of the Conference. A tour confirmation will be sent after registration closes with more detailed information.  Government-issued photo IDs are required for all tours.

  • University of Denver Westminster Law Library - FULL

    Monday, July 18

    The University of Denver’s Westminster Law Library sits in University Park, a beautiful and bustling urban neighborhood approximately five miles south of Downtown Denver. Located in an LEED-certified (Gold) law building built just twenty years ago, the law library has a modern, open layout on three floors of the Ricketson Law Building. This modern building design mirrors the library’s focus on innovation and collaboration in research, instruction, and its other services. The tour will feature the library’s newly-renovated, state-of-the-art teaching space, as well as its practice-oriented and archival collections.

    Tour time at host library: 12:30–1:30 p.m.

    Transportation: The University of Denver is accessible via Denver’s RTD light rail system (E-Line and H-Line).

  • Colorado Supreme Court Library & Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Learning Center - FULL

    Monday, July 18

    This tour includes a visit to one or more of the courtrooms (as available), discussion about the Colorado court system and the Colorado Judicial Branch, a tour of the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center and its public art, a visit to the Colorado Supreme Court Library, and time in the Colorado Judicial Learning Center. The Colorado Judicial Learning Center is an innovative and engaging learning environment designed to inspire visitors to achieve a better understanding of the laws and freedoms that govern our citizens, states, and country. The 4,000 square-foot Learning Center provides a fun and interactive educational experience for young people and adults to build awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the rule of law and the role of the Judicial Branch in our society.

    Tour time at host library: 3:00–4:00 p.m.

    Walking Distance:  The Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center is approximately 0.6 miles from the Colorado Convention Center.

    Additional Information: Weapons are not allowed in the Ralph L. Carr Judicial Building. This includes pocket knives, clippers, and mace. Visitors are required to be screened through security to be admitted to the building.

  • University of Colorado William A. Wise Law Library - FULL

    Tuesday, July 19

    Nestled in the foothills of Boulder’s iconic Flatirons, the Wise Law Library spans three floors of the Wolf Law Building and is the intellectual heart of the Law School. The library provides a collaborative environment for faculty, students, and the general public to access legal resources. The tour will feature the collections, artwork, and rare books room of the newly-remodeled Library. Highlights include a specially-commissioned mosaic art piece made with scraps of discarded microfilm, a special reading room dedicated to the life and work of distinguished alumna Ira C. Rothgerber, Jr. and his family, and the serene views of the Flatirons from the Arraj Reading Room.

    Tour time at host library: 10:00 –11:00 a.m.

    Transportation: Bus transportation provided by the Conference. More specific information will be provided in the tour confirmation.

    Additional Information: No weapons of any kind are permitted, including pocket knives and mace.
