AALL eBriefing / Executive Director Announcement

Kate Hagan headshotIn yesterday’s email to the members, we announced that Kate Hagan, AALL executive director, is resigning her position at the end of the fiscal year, September 30. Kate will have served as AALL’s executive director for 11 years, the longest tenure to date for that position. In preparation for this eventuality, she had developed a transition plan and timeline for a search for a new executive director of AALL.

I hope that you will join me and the rest of the Executive Board in wishing Kate the best as she takes on new challenges and opportunities.

In fulfillment of that plan, we will be appointing a search committee to select and recommend a new chief staff executive. Gail Warren, former AALL treasurer, has agreed to chair the committee. Gail also served as a member of the search committee that selected Kate for the role in 2007.

After the rest of the committee has been selected, we will share that with all of you. As part of the process, we will also be selecting a search firm to assist the committee with identifying and vetting potential candidates. We will issue RFPs and hope to identify the firm no later than the end of May.

We will keep you all informed of the process as it moves forward. In addition, we will set up a process for you to submit comments or questions to the search committee. This search is important to the future of the Association, and we want you to be informed as we move forward.
