and exchange ideas,

Additional Comment Whilst we are unable to host anyone in 2016, we would like to become involved again in subsequent years. We can help with the exposure to a vast range of foreign law materials, not only UK, and can provide a chance
to learn a different range of services, especially in a library that still receives a lot of paper under Legal Deposit status.

Additional Comment LA Law Library provides valuable training opportunities to interns, while gaining assistance on library projects regarding global law. Particularly, the intern assists in reference, collection development,
teaching, outreach, and drafting publications. The library regularly hosts interns with legal and library backgrounds (as graduates and/or students). Please see below for additional information.
Further Additional Comments The Global Law internship at LA Law Library presents an opportunity to develop research skills in foreign and international law through working in one of the world’s largest collections of global
legal materials. As legal practice and scholarship become increasingly globalized, it is essential that law students be prepared to research cross-border legal issues. Under the guidance of the
Global Law Librarian, students undertaking the Global Law internship will conduct research and reference services, create Resource Lists of materials held at LA Law Library, draft County Profiles, and market the
collection and services to a variety of stakeholders. Interns will come away with an understanding of how to utilize both primary and secondary sources (in print and electronic formats) from around the world, such as
treaties, statutes
and codes, case reporters, practice materials, commentaries, dictionaries, research and abbreviation guides, and encyclopedias. An internship at the library offers an optimal field environment for obtaining practical hands-on experience working with a collection of approximate 1,000,000 volume equivalents, learning effective
reference skills, honing communication techniques for interacting with a diverse patron group, and exploring collection development and management practices.

Additional Comment We would benefit from an exchange of ideas and from a fresh outside perspective on our operations. We have had visits in the past that have been quite successful.
Further Additional Comments We’re a large law school in a very large university. We have an excellent collection in foreign (particularly Europe and the Americas, but also elsewhere), international (especially tax and human rights), and
domestic law. We also have access to the main library’s excellent collection including its UN materials. Located in downtown NYC close to the UN and other major resource centers. We also have a program that hosts many
foreign and
international law scholars and provides a nice community working in these areas.

Additional Comment We are interested in a visit because we are merging with our sister library in Camden. We believe that this merger has a great deal to show a visitor, and because our extensive FCIL collection in Camden (including
a legendary collection of Soviet Law) could benefit from the insight of a foreign law librarian. We are eager to demonstrate how two law libraries can merge into one, and we believe this would be of great interest
and importance to a
visitor.
