Immigration is one of the hottest topics in 2019. Under the current administration, the laws are rapidly changing and staying abreast of these changes is critical for librarians in law schools, courts, and law firms. Join Julina Guo, Staff Attorney in the Immigration Law Clinic at Albany Law School, as she explores the federal immigration system and the laws that support it. Julina works with individuals to obtain humanitarian immigration status and she will highlight some of the humanitarian relief available.

Attendees will:
gain knowledge about our federal immigration system
learn about certain forms of humanitarian relief
grasp the scope and significance of changes under the current administration

Julina Guo, Esq.

Julina Guo is a Staff Attorney in the Immigration Law Clinic at the Justice Center at Albany Law School. Julina represents survivors of domestic violence and crimes, children, and other vulnerable individuals in obtaining humanitarian immigration status. Julina coordinated volunteers for the Detention Outreach Project when the government transferred over 300 asylum-seekers to the Albany County Jail. Julina also participates in advocacy on immigration issues, working closely with other stakeholders such as community-based organizations, law enforcement, and members of Congress. Prior to joining Albany Law School, Julina represented survivors of human trafficking at Sanctuary for Families and enforced anti-discrimination laws at the NYC Commission on Human Rights. She is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School.
