Diversity Dialogues: Hidden Disabilities and Visible Solutions

Thursday, April 26, 2018 (11am - 12pm US/Central)
My Meetings

Registration Deadline: April 23, 2018
Registration is closed for this event.

DESCRIPTION

People with hidden disabilities can face challenges in the workplace stemming from the invisibility of their condition. Workplace activities that aim to foster teamwork can have an unintended exclusionary effect, and a lack of awareness regarding hidden disabilities could actually be limiting the engagement, involvement, and contributions of team members. Join us in a discussion led by Leigh Fickling, an expert in Disability Management to increase awareness of hidden disabilities and workplace dynamics including disclosure and accommodations. Learn how to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, actionable steps to create a more inclusive environment, as well as common awareness solutions to promote diversity on a broader scale.

ATTENDEES WILL LEARN
Learn a variety of hidden disabilities in the workplace hearing loss, epilepsy, learning disabilities, etc.
Discuss ways in which discrimination occurs in the hiring process
Participate in a conversation to encourage awareness and compliance with accommodations
