Diversity Dialogues: Building Pipelines for Diversity

Dillard University won the 2018 ABA Diversity Leadership Award for its collection of initiatives designed to build a pipeline for underrepresented students seeking to enter the legal profession. Adria Kimbrough, Pre-Law Advisor at Dillard University will provide a quick background on Dillard's different programs, as well as discuss development opportunities and program effectiveness. Come prepared to engage with Adria and learn strategies to implement in your own organization. The audience can ask questions, get tips, and learn ways to create new initiatives.

Adria Kimbrough
Pre-Law Advisor
Dillard University

Adria Kimbrough has been involved in Dillard's pipeline efforts for several years and was hired as a full-time Pre-Law Advisor in 2016. Her efforts have included the creation of a Law School Admission Test (LSAT) Boot Camp, a Mock Trial Team (ranked in the top 30% of teams in the nation), and a week-long program to prepare rising 1Ls of color for academic success in law school. Adria received the 2018 Diversity Leadership Award from the ABA Section of Litigation.

For more than 15 years, Kimbrough has spent her career working in both higher education and law. She has served as an Assistant Dean of Students at Cornell University, University Attorney at Albany State University, Associate at the Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon and Galchus law firm in Little Rock, Arkansas, and as Associate General Counsel for the University of Arkansas System. Additionally, Kimbrough serves as Of Counsel with the Kullman Law Firm in New Orleans, Louisiana.

She is a member of the Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and Louisiana Bar Associations as well as the American Bar Association where she was selected as a Fellow for the Young Lawyers Division Section of Labor and Employment Law. Kimbrough is a native of Mobile, Alabama, and holds a bachelorís degree in History from Talladega College (Talladega, Alabama), and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College of Law (Cincinnati, Ohio).
