As organizations hire and re-open many are conducting interviews virtually. How do you prepare when this may be your only chance to shine? Attendees will learn practical tips for preparing to interview virtually. This includes considerations for using technology, interview formats, and questions to ask potential employers considering the new working environment. Attendees will learn how to plan for uncertainties and gain insight into current interview practices.

Jessica King
Perkins Coie LLP

Jessica King has been working in law firm libraries for over a decade, beginning her career at firms in Lexington, KY and Lancaster, PA. For the last seven years, she has been working at Perkins Coie LLP, an AmLaw 50 law firm based in Seattle, WA with offices throughout the US and China. In her role as the Research Services Manager, she oversees the work done by an extremely talented team of reference librarians and promotes the Library & Research Departmentís services within the firm. She loves the variety of work she gets to do in her job, especially helping law firm professionals navigate the overwrought world of docket tracking alerts. Jessica is also a past chair of the Legal Division of the Special Libraries Association.

Carla Wale
University of Washington

Carla Wale is the Director of the MLIS Law Librarianship Program and Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Washington (UW). Before joining UW, Carla was the Associate Dean for Law Library and Information Technology Services at the University of the District of Columbia School of Law and held various positions at Temple University Law Library, Georgetown University Law Library, and Northern Illinois University Law Library. In her previous roles, Carla served on numerous law library search committees and understands the interview process from the employer perspective. In her current role, she works with iSchool Career Services to help students prepare for virtual and on-ground interviewing.
