Compensating Leaders: Salary Negotiating Tips

Join Leigh Estabrook, dean emerita at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Library and Information Science, for a discussion on salary negotiation. The session will outline successful salary negotiation strategies and provide methods for determining value, as well as steps for ensuring that compensation is commensurate with performance. Concrete steps to avoid common salary negotiation pitfalls will be discussed.

Leigh Estabrook is Dean Emerita and Professor Emerita at the University of Illinois where she worked from 1986-2015. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Boston University and an M.S. from Simmons College. Her research and consulting has centered on the role of libraries in communities and improving library management. For many years Leigh has offered workshops in salary negotiation. She has counseled hundreds of information professionals in their negotiations with employers, and provides forums discussing salary taboos.
