For 75 years the LSAT has been required for admission to U.S. law schools. While studies consistently show the LSAT is the single best predictor of law school success, and the LSAT’s predictive validity is consistent across all demographic groups, the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) sees an opportunity to create an alternative pathway with the proven validity and reliability that schools and students need; an alternative pathway that meets potential students earlier with a holistic approach to building the skills and support needed to help them define and pursue their educational goals. LSAC believes its new pathway to law school – provisionally named the LSAC Legal Education Program – will increase law school candidates and matriculants and ensure a new age of law and justice in the U.S.
