Why did you join AALL?
I joined AALL in order to network with other librarians in the academic sector and to take advantage of the many resources that AALL has to offer such as the Academic Law Libraries Special Interest Section (to name just one).

Why do you stay a member?
I maintain my membership for a host of reasons. Being a member of ALL-SIS has allowed me to get to know others who work in an academic setting and who share similar interests. I joined the Student Services Committee and am fortunate to be working with a wonderful and talented group of people. Working with other student service focused librarians is great because I always learn something new that I can bring back and try to implement in my own law library.

What one membership benefit is most valuable to you?
The Special Interest Sections.  There are 13 Special Interest Sections that AALL members can join.  The sections are diverse allowing something for everyone.  In addition to variety, the SIS’s also provide an opportunity for members to become involved and to contribute to the profession through committee work and other activities.

What is your favorite memory associated with AALL?
The AALL Convention in Boston in 2012 was amazing!  It was my first AALL convention and I took part in CONELL.  It was wonderful to meet other newer librarians and to see the diverse backgrounds of the attendees.   I participated in the Dutch Treat dinner the evening before the conference began.  The dinner was with a small group of 6 or 7 people and it was nice because it gave all of us an opportunity to better get to know each other before the rest of the conference (the food at the restaurant was incredible as well).  Also, Boston is a beautiful city with lots to see and do.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy travelling.  I recently returned from my first visit to Key West, FL.  The people, sights, and restaurants were all incredible.  I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends (this includes being an uncle to my two beautiful nieces, Chloe and Kailyne).

What book(s) are you currently reading?
For business: The Bluebook, 19th edition
For business: Bossypants by Tina Fey. At least twice as funny as the Bluebook (maybe more depending on the type of day you're having).

What’s your favorite travel/vacation destination?
Toronto, Canada. I have never been disappointed with a visit to Toronto. I have many good friends who live in the city so it is always nice to catch up with them. If you've never been, you should stop by the Royal Ontario Museum for some culture and take a trip to Kensington Market for some food/shopping.
