Volunteer for an AALL Committee by February 14

Please join me in becoming an active member of our Association by volunteering for an AALL committee. Our committees help to implement AALL's 2013-2016 Strategic Plan. The plan's directions are authority, advocacy, and education, which we hope will lead the Association forward. AALL thrives because our members get involved, and you benefit from the professional experience and collegiality of committee membership. You will have the opportunity to meet AALL members from all types of law libraries and from all parts of the country.

There are 24 standing committees to choose from. The committees focus on either policy issues or process functions. I recommend that you review the charges and other committee information available on the committee pages of AALLNET. These pages provide the charge of each committee, as well as an overview of the work involved, anticipated time commitment, and any suggested member qualifications. After you have explored the different committees, please fill out the volunteer form.

Deadline: Please complete and submit the AALL Committee Volunteer Form by February 14.

The Appointments Committee will meet in March 2014. This committee analyzes the membership of each committee and attempts to balance the membership so there are representatives from different library types, with varying responsibilities, from different areas of the country, and at various experience levels. It is helpful to the committee for volunteers to provide some information about their interests and experience and to be flexible by applying for more than one committee.

AALL benefits when a variety of perspectives are represented on committees. Newer members, experienced members, and members from all types of libraries and functions are encouraged to apply. Your work provides the energy to move AALL forward. Volunteer today!
