I have served as Technical Services Librarian at the Wake Forest University School of Law Library in Winston-Salem, NC since June of 2011. Prior to coming to Wake Forest, I was Director of Library Services at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC where I also formerly served as Technical Services Librarian for eight years. I have a BA in Journalism & Mass Communications from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MLIS from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
I have been a member of AALL since 2011. In 2014/2015 I served as Chair of TS-SIS Awards Committee, and I filled in as Member-at-Large for OBS midway through the year. Currently, I serve a Chair of TS’s Annual Meeting Program Subcommittee.
2016 OBS-SIS Candidate for Member-at-Large
Patty Alvayay, System and Metadata Librarian, University of Kentucky Law
I attended Sacramento State University and achieved a Bachelor of Arts in English. During that time I worked at Macy’s in a variety of different positions from sales associate to HR associate to floor supervisor before deciding to attend library school. At Macy’s I learned important skills in leadership, customer service and organization that has helped me achieve my goals. For my Master of Science in Library and Information Studies I attended Syracuse University iSchool and worked at the Law Library in the Cataloging Department and it led me to apply to jobs in law libraries. Which worked out quite nicely as I now work at one! At the University of Kentucky I have been responsible for the bulk cataloging of our electronic records, cataloging our faculty publications, reclassifying our Legislative Research Commission reports according to subject and created our rare book display. I also participate in a variety of committees; including the Local Arrangements Committee for the Southeastern Chapter American Association of Law Libraries as we hosted the annual conference this past year.
I hope you will consider me for the Member-at-Large appointment for the Online Bibliographic Services- SIS as I feel that my experience has given me skills to do activities such as: the planning of the Joint Reception, coordinating the display table in the exhibit hall at the annual conference, etc.
