ADAM SHARES HIS FAVORITE AALL MEMBER BENEFIT AND HIS FAVORITE MEMORY SINCE JOINING
Adam Bent is a library student at the University of Illinois & Research Assistant at the University of Illinois College of Law.
HOW DID YOU GET INTERESTED IN LAW LIBRARIANSHIP?
I have always been service oriented and bookish. I did not think of librarianship as a career until law school, where I began researching alternative careers. Once law librarianship came into my purview, I couldn’t think of anything else I would rather be doing.
WHY DID YOU JOIN AALL?
Before pursuing law librarianship as a career, I did my homework; I spoke with numerous law librarians. They all recommended joining AALL.
WHAT ONE MEMBER BENEFIT IS MOST VALUABLE TO YOU?
The networking opportunities. AALL is terrific for providing newer law librarians ample opportunities for connecting with other law librarians.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY ASSOCIATED WITH AALL?
The high level of inclusivity. Immediately upon joining, everyone I have met through AALL has been welcoming and eager to help new law librarians, such as AALL’s Mentor Program.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
Spending time with my wife and our dog. I also enjoy reading.
WHAT BOOK(S) ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
The Practicing Stoic by Ward Farnsworth. I’m also reading a Python programming book.
