Christine on the connections she’s made through AALL including meeting her husband and working on the PLLIP Summit

Christine Sellers Sullivan is a Research Attorney with Littler Mendelson, P.C. in Sacramento, California.

WHY DID YOU JOIN AALL?

As I was finishing law school and getting ready to attend library school, both at the University of South Carolina, I was advised by the excellent reference librarians at USC to join AALL. I joined as a student member and have never looked back. It’s been an integral part of my career development over the years and I’m so glad I joined as early as I did.

WHY DO YOU STAY A MEMBER?

I love the networking and connections that I have made through AALL, along with the continued learning opportunities.

WHAT ONE MEMBERSHIP BENEFIT IS MOST VALUABLE TO YOU?

Being able to give back to my profession is extremely important to me, so I’ve been honored to serve on various AALL or chapter or SIS committees. Next year, I will be Co-chair of the PLLIP Summit for the second year so I’m looking forward to working with the Summit Committee on developing a program that is as awesome as the ones that have come before.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY ASSOCIATED WITH AALL?

I actually met my husband through AALL – Jeremy Sullivan! We were lucky to know each other for years as work acquaintances and then were both single at the same time at a conference at the same time and magic happened. We recently got married and I moved from South Carolina to Sacramento, California.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I enjoy hanging out with my family. I have a pretty dedicated yoga practice and am still searching for a new studio after the move. I enjoy food, whether that be trying a new restaurant or cooking a delicious recipe. I also enjoy movies and have read every NYTimes movie review since about 1999. I haven’t seen them all obviously! But I love knowing what’s coming out. And then there’s my cat Fred, who pretty much deserves his own paragraph because he’s so adorable.

WHAT BOOK(S) ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

During our cross-country drive from South Carolina to California, we listened to the audiobook of the first book in The Expanse series, Leviathan Wakes, since we both loved the tv show. It was excellent. I also just started Daisy Jones & The Six, which is fantastic so far.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TRAVEL/VACATION DESTINATION?

Oh, this one is hard. Now that I don’t live there anymore, I’m going to have to say South Carolina. But I’m always up for exploring new places and learning about a destination so it’s hard to pick a favorite.
