Marijah on Learning Opportunities in AALL and What Cruise Line She Loves

AALL member Marijah Srcozynski

Marijah Sroczynski is the Senior Collections Specialist at the LAC Group On-site at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP in New York.

Why did you join AALL?

I worked in the public sector for a long time before moving to a law library. In the public sector there’s a strong tradition of joining ALA and actively participating and I brought that with me to the law library sector.

Why do you stay a member?

The other members and the learning opportunities.  Between what I learn from my TS and OBS colleagues and from the excellent webinars, I’m constantly getting the chance to learn and grow professionally.  It’s also nice to have an entire group of colleagues to ask questions of and vent to whenever I need.

What one membership benefit is most valuable to you?

The continuing education.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I stage manage at local community theaters and renaissance faires.  I also sometimes perform at renaissance faires as a stage combatant.  I love playing with anything tech related and am currently taking an online course in using Drupal and another in Java programming.  I also enjoy playing games with my son – both video games as well as physical games. Currently our favorite to play is Fluxx – an ever-changing card game.  I love to read.  I read a lot!!

What book(s) are you currently reading?

As usual, I’m in the middle of a number of books.  Some of them are The Biggest Deal by Roy Assersohn, Call Me Wild by Robin Kaye, Calculated in Death by J.D. Robb, Knight Avenged by Coreene Callahan and Daughter of Sand and Stone by Libbie Hawker.

What’s your favorite travel/vacation destination?

I love going on Disney cruises with my family; doesn’t matter what the final destination may be.
