Why did you join AALL?
Because the membership enables me to attend great educational programs and also reach out to experts in my field.
Why do you stay a member?
The educational programs and annual conferences are valuable for my professional development as both a librarian and lecturer in law. The membership also enables me to always stay on top of trends in our profession.
What one membership benefit is most valuable to you?
The ability to participate in fabulous continuing educational programs.
What is your favorite memory associated with AALL?
I have many great memories. But if I had to pick one memory, it would have to be the summer I was awarded the Kathy Garner Grant. The grant enabled me to attend the conference that year and I am grateful that the opportunity was given to me that year.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love to dance and I keep up with this passion by attending two to three Zumba classes a week. After work I also enjoy hanging out with my kids and husband. We make sure to find time to enjoy a great cup of tea/coffee together around either the kitchen table or next to the fireplace. Everyone in my family loves to read, including me. If we are not outdoors gardening, then you may find us cooking or baking together! Today we made homemade yogurt and a delicious dinner and every family member pitched in to help. Our love for cooking encouraged our daughter to become a food blogger at a very young age. She is now recognized both nationally and internationally and has readers in all corners of the world. Since we love to cook, it was not difficult at all to transition into the gluten-free diet. Here is a link to our family’s story on YouTube! In addition to being a food blogger she is also an emerging singer, song writer and composer. I had to read many books on artist management issues and challenges when our daughter came out with her first single on iTunes. Fortunately I love to take on new challenges and learning about the music industry from a music management perspective. Her fifth single is due to be released soon. She currently has 4 songs on iTunes and on Spotify, and 2 music videos on YouTube.
What’s your favorite travel/vacation destination?
My favorite destination has to be Norway! When I was younger I used to scuba-dive in the fjords, kayak in the rivers and ski and hike in the mountains on a regular basis. I still love exploring the fjords and mountains.
