"Perhaps someday we will discover that space and time are simpler than the human equation," Captain Picard once said. Star Trek has given us 50 years of compelling storytelling, not just about space exploration, but also about leadership and working with others to achieve the same goals. This program will use archetypal characters from the series as touchstones to examine leadership lessons integral to a well-functioning library; however, participants will not need any prior knowledge of the series to benefit. Such lessons include the importance (and difficulty) of having disparate personality types on a team, and of fostering an environment where everyone on the team can be a leader, not just those with the title of captain or director.
