TYPE: Special Committee

PURPOSE: To review both the Guide to Fair Business Practices and Licensing Principles for Electronic Resources, and suggest appropriate revisions to reflect current best practices.

CHARGE: The Special Committee will:

  • Review and update the AALL Guide to Fair Business Practices for Legal Publishers, and the Licensing Principals for Electronic Resources, paying particular attention to current practices and electronic publishing standards.
  • Provide opportunities throughout the process for legal information professionals and suppliers to comment on the proposed revisions.
  • Develop an implementation plan that includes seeking commitment from law librarians and legal information providers to the practices endorsed in both publications.

TIME COMMITMENT: The committee will meet by conference call as necessary to complete its work, and make its report and recommendation for consideration at the 2018 Spring Executive Board meeting.

TENURE: Membership on the committee will be until the committee completes its charge.

SIZE: The committee shall consist of a chair and six members and a non-voting Executive Board and staff liaison.
