Centennial Q & A: Part I

Answer: This university houses the AALL archives at one of its campuses and also has the top men's college basketball team this season.

Check the end of this newsletter for the answer, or rather the question! (I warned you earlier that I am a sports fan!)

Keep Saving the Dates: September 23 and 24, 2005

Just a reminder that plans are getting underway for the AALL Educational Summit to be held this fall. As of now, please keep the dates of September 23 and 24, 2005 clear of any chapter events. Cate Bower of the Tecker Group will lead various Chapter and SIS leaders, among others, in a retreat to rethink AALL's Professional Development Programs. At this point, the summit is still in its initial planning stages. Once this is finalized, further information will be posted to the chapter list. So watch your inbox for more news on this exciting event!

Chapter VIPs

Yet again this year, AALL Chapters have the unique opportunity to send VIPs (Valuable Invited Participants) to the AALL Annual Meeting. Please consider participating in this program. Even though the VIP form will be due to headquarters in June 2005, it's never too early to identify potential chapter VIPs, http://www.aallnet.org/chapter/vipman.asp.

Annual Meeting Leadership Training Sessions

As you begin to consider your plans for this year's Annual Meeting in San Antonio, remember to arrive early and attend the Chapter Leadership training on Saturday, July 16, 2005. Chapter Presidents and Vice-Presidents will meet on July 16th for a morning professional development session to be followed by the Joint Chapter Council and SIS Council Lunch. Training will continue into the afternoon with leadership roundtables and the Chapter Council Business Meeting. In addition, several one hour Chapter Leadership Roundtables will occur throughout the annual meeting. Please save the dates and encourage your newly elected chapter officers to attend these sessions when appropriate. All handouts for these sessions will be available online prior to the annual meeting.

The Centennial Toolkit: Available Now on AALLNET!

2006 will mark the Centennial of AALL and in anticipation of this anniversary, the AALL Centennial Celebration Committee has unveiled several toolkits to assist members, as well as Chapters, in developing events to celebrate the AALL Centennial. Click on the following link to see the committee's handy work: http://www.aallnet.org/committee/cenceleb/toolkits/index.asp. Those of you exploring the Trivia Games Toolkit will discover my inspiration for the Chapter Council Chat's Centennial Q & A feature. Perhaps your chapter's newsletter has space for something similar?

Centennial Q & A: Part II

Question: What is the University of Illinois, more specifically the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?

Remember, the AALL Archives policy is available online and chapters should routinely be transferring important material to the archives for permanent retention: http://www.aallnet.org/about/policy_archives.asp

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
