AALL Board Agenda Items

If your Chapter has items that you would like included on the agenda for the July 21-22, 2011 AALL Board Meeting, now is the time to submit them. Agenda items should be submitted electronically and are due by June 1. Please consult with me before you submit an agenda item. I will be asked to explain your agenda item to the board and will need to be familiar with it.

If you have questions or concerns for the AALL Board, please let me know and I will be happy to bring them up for you.

2011 Annual Meeting Registration Early Bird Rate Deadline is June 1

Registration for the 2011 AALL Annual Meeting and Conference, to be held in Philadelphia, PA, is now open. Encourage your members to take advantage of the early bird rate by registering by June 1 . AALL's educational programming is available for viewing online. You can find registration rates online, including a convenient single conference rate. You can also view this year's conference schedule, reflecting some exciting changes – including two new events on the exhibit hall floor: the Exhibit Hall Ribbon Cutting/Opening Reception on Saturday, July 23 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., and the Closing Reception on Tuesday, July 26 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Once again, AALL is pleased to offer a complimentary one-year AALL membership for non-AALL members who purchase the conference registration package. If your members are not yet part of the AALL community – but should be – please let them know!

CCP Annual Meeting Events

The annual meeting is around the corner and there are many events planned for Chapter Leaders at the upcoming AALL Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. I have sent out invitations for the Leadership Training and Luncheon via email. Please RSVP if you haven't already. Here is a quick list of the events, please mark your calendars:

AALL Annual Meeting Chapter VIP Program Forms Due May 20

The deadline is approaching to submit your registration form for the Chapter VIP Program for the AALL Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. Registration forms are due to Kim Rundle krundle@aall.org by Friday, May 20. More information can be found here.

2011 AALL Leadership Academy is Coming

Please share this news with your members: New law librarians in the early stages of your career—achieve your leadership potential by attending the 2011 AALL Leadership Academy, October 28-29 in the Chicago area. Designed as an intensive learning experience aimed at growing and developing leadership skills, the academy program will help you discover how to maximize your personal leadership style while connecting with other legal information professionals.

The program will feature speakers Gail Johnson and Pam Parr. Johnson is a widely regarded leadership and communications expert and holds a Master of Arts in Communication Studies. Parr has extensive business management and customer service expertise. They have conducted many leadership programs for library organizations and will speak at the 2011 American Library Association Annual Conference.

Applications are due by June 30.

Roster Updates

Thanks to everyone who submitted updates to your Chapter rosters. You can check your Chapter profile for accuracy on the new AALLNET here or take a look at other Chapter websites and profiles. If you have any updates to report, please let me and Kim Rundle krundle@aall.org know.

Information will be sent to these chapter presidents from AALL with more information, as well as instructions for recipients.

Chapter Visits

It's never too late to consider scheduling a Chapter visit. Did you know that AALL will pay the visitor's travel expenses, so the visit is at no or very low cost to your Chapter? You will benefit with a wonderful speaker and stay connected to the AALL Board. Simply fill out the chapter visit request form and return it to Kim Rundle. Go to the Chapter Visit page on AALLNET to find information on policies and procedures for chapter visits. Chapter visits are a great way to network and show off your chapter!
