New Council Chair Elected

Congratulations to JoAnn Hounshell, CALL President, on her election as the new Chair of the Council of Chapter Presidents. JoAnn will begin participating in AALL Board events in Seattle in July and will assume the role of Chair at the close of the Annual Meeting. I am looking forward to working with you, JoAnn!

2013 Annual Meeting Registration Now Open

Registration for the 2013 AALL Annual Meeting and Conference, to be held in Seattle, WA, is now open. Based on member responses to last year's educational needs assessment, the Annual Meeting Program Committee has put together a fantastic lineup of programs and workshops. Meetings and functions scheduled by Committees, SISs, Chapters, Caucuses, and affiliate groups can also be viewed to assist you in planning your schedule in Seattle.

Explore the Annual Meeting online to find some valuable resources to help you get there, including a section on Getting Your Boss to Say "Yes" to help you make your case for why you should attend.

Spread the word to your nonmember colleagues: once again, AALL is offering a complimentary one-year AALL membership for non-AALL members who purchase the Conference Registration package. By joining us in Seattle, they'll be joining AALL!

Chapter Annual Meeting Events

Incoming Chapter Presidents and Vice Presidents are invited to attend the Leadership Training at the Annual Meeting in Seattle on Saturday, July 13th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the Leadership Luncheon from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Invitations for these two events have already been sent to each incoming Chapter President so that both they and their incoming Chapter Vice Presidents can RSVP to attend if they will be in Seattle this year.

This year, the Leadership Training has been totally revamped. In line with this year’s theme, we are re-thinking the value to deliver more resources and information to support you in your leadership role. The format this year will be a joint session with the incoming leadership of AALL Committees, Special Interest Sections and Chapters. By bringing all of these leaders together, the hope is to engage everyone in a more dynamic conversation about the unique value proposition of AALL.

The Council of Chapter Presidents Business Meeting will follow the Leadership Training, also on July 13th, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. More information about this meeting, including the agenda, will be made available in the coming months.

Annual Meeting Chapter Registration Awards

Just a reminder that for each annual meeting, AALL underwrites one free conference registration for a number of Chapters on a rotating basis and the intent is that the award be presented to newer members of AALL who meet whatever other criteria the awarding Chapter may determine.

This year, the eligible Chapters are: ALLA, CALL, LLAA, LLAW, MALL, MichALL, NOALL, ORALL, SANDALL, SFALL, and VALL. Each of these chapters should have already received a letter explaining the process and procedures related to these awards. Please note that the names of the award recipients need to be submitted to Kim Rundle by April 15th.
