Research Skills Audit: law firm librarians respond – At the 2013 PLL Summit, Casey Flaherty, the GC of Kia Motors, made headlines by developing a basic technology audit which he administers to outside law firms. Taking a page from Casey’s technology audit and AALL’s Principles and Standards for Legal Research Competencies, the 2014 Summit included a session where attendees collaborated on drafting a practice-focused research audit.
The goal of the program was to create several topical research audits which attendees can use in their organizations. The combined audit will provide a new tool to help law firms, associates and other organizations determine whether they are working efficiently and effectively in a world that is evolving towards AFAs, project management and legal process outsourcing.
The resulting audits are posted below.
- IP Research Skills Audit
- Company Research Audit
- Legislative History Audit
- Litigation Audit
- M&A Audit
- Securities Audit
- Tax Audit
